This Week in Forsyth 🗓

GA State Route 400 Exit 11A Opens

Amazing news for residents of South Forsyth or North Fulton arrived on Thursday, the 25th. The long-awaited Exit 11A on McGinnis Ferry Road officially opened for use. The interchange sits between the ones on Windward Parkway and McFarland Parkway. This is a great new access point for many drivers who commute often between the South Forsyth area and Alpharetta. Most of these drivers won’t have to go out of their way now to access the interchanges on Windward or McFarland. This addition to SR 400 was part of a larger mobility build-out for the highway and McGinnis Ferry, which are getting expressways and road widening as well. Many South Forsyth and North Fulton drivers are expected to feel the effects of the improved access between the two areas.

Century Communities Holds Grand Opening in Cumming

Yesterday, on June 27th, Century Communities, Inc. held a grand opening event for Echo Grove. This is a new single-family home community that is coming to the North Forsyth area. The event showcased several giveaways, a food truck, and tours of the model home. Meanwhile, the community itself offers estate-sized homesites, up to 5 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, a walking trail, and more. This will be a hot new area for new families thinking of moving into Cumming. The new neighborhood adds more housing inventory to North Forsyth, an area that continues to see residential growth.

Development Watch 👀

The Gathering At South Forsyth Updates

The Gathering at South Forsyth is an upcoming 100-acre mixed-use development that will feature commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, and entertainment venues. It is going to be located right next to the new Exit 11A.

On June 11th, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, Board of Education, and the Development Authority had a meeting where several definitive documents for the development were finalized and approved. The plans that were in development for three years have now been agreed and set in place.

Many might wonder what the Board of Education was doing at the meeting. Since the potential success of The Gathering would eventually lead to higher property values in the district, the property taxes would also increase. Since the Board of Education gains property tax revenue, it had to agree on how its share of that future tax increment will be handled.

On The Radar 🔜

New Cheesecake Factory Opens in Less Than a Month

Many have known that a new Cheesecake Factory is coming to The Collection at Forsyth for a while now. The newest location for the restaurant chain is set to ope n on July 21st, making it less than a month now until its opening. The Cheesecake Factory is only one of the several additions that The Collection at Forsyth is doing in 2026, but many would consider it the one that most are looking forward to. Rest assured, the shopping center is going to get much more packed before the end of the Summer.

Forsyth’s First Whole Foods Nears Completion

Another South Forsyth based project, a new Whole Foods, is coming soon right next to The Collection at Forsyth. Construction began last year in the spring, and it’s expected to be open sometime later this year. The land it sits on will be a mixed-use development led by Fuqua Development, which is already home to a Chipotle that opened recently. Soon to become the first Whole Foods in Forsyth County, many shoppers are going to be happily buying their organic groceries and high quality ingredients in due time.
